LOVE AFTER LOVE, Derek Walcott

The time will come when, with elation you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror and each will smile at the other’s welcome, and say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was your self.Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored for another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life.

LOVE AFTER LOVE, Derek Walcott

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

"I am a trick, an illusion of the highest order, so incredible that I am actually true."

- Henry DeTamble, The Time Traveler’s Wife

Congratulations to the best singer around :-) Woooo!

"Some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity…"

I believe that appreciation for life is the only way to live. There will always be somebody who will try to bring you down or urge you to lose the faith you have in the world, but what kind of life is that? We are gracing this earth temporarily, so we should live it as if we’re never going to leave this world. If I cry one day, I will cherish that feeling because it means I’m alive, but I won’t let it consume me. I’ll break that moment with a smile and a passion to live. There is always something to smile about, no matter what is going on in the world. That’s not selfish, that’s not ignorant. That’s honest and it’s smart. Where will anger and sadness get you? Nowhere. It only turns you inside out and clouds your judgement. So change the world with happiness and love. Isn’t that what the world’s catastrophes are missing? Isn’t that why there hasn’t been much change in the big picture? Make a difference, don’t smother the positive.

Millions of people are smiling right now. Even if you’re not, isn’t it a comfort to know there’s happiness in the world?
You can’t change how people treat you or what they say about you. All you can do is change how you react to it.
Turn your head away from negativity… and feel at peace with who you are.

Anyone who knows me will know that I am a lover of nature and everything that it includes… specifically animals. Something that has been bothering me recently is how selfish the human race can be when it comes to sharing the earth with other creatures. The world doesn’t just belong to us… to lay it out plainly for anyone who disagrees: we screwed up this world for all of the animals who are abused by us, going extinct by us. When did the world retain a receipt saying ‘Bought and owned by humans’? Never. So why do people not give a single care in the world when some individuals are raising awareness of abuse and extinction? The only time animals ever hurt humans is if a human influenced a violent reaction whereas humans inflict pain and suffering on animals - everyday - for no reason at all. I’m not saying there’s no reasoning behind the way of life: it’s a natural human instinct to hunt for food, and in the time of cavemen, they used fur to keep them warm. But reality check, people: it’s 2012. We don’t need the fur of animals anymore. We don’t need to torture them in order to feed ourselves. I’m not a vegetarian, but I don’t support the force feeding and brutal killings of animals.. that’s unnecessary and cruel. All I’m saying is stop being so self-centered and remember that this world is shared with all forms of life, so respect it. There is the circle of life - but torture is not part of nature.

Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. - Albert Einstein
Open up those broken wings,
let the wind heal the wounds.
It’s time to breathe in deep
and spread courage
across the world…
until the sun rises with you
once more.

Phillip Phillips, Volcano.

What I am to you is not real
What I am to you, you do not need
What I am to you is not what you mean to me
You give me miles and miles of mountains
And I’ll ask
What I give to you is just what I’m going through
This is nothing new, no, no just another phase of finding
what I really need is what makes me bleed
But like a new disease, Lord, she’s still too young to treat…

"We really torture ourselves when it comes to love. When people love each other.. they rarely just act on it. They think there are ‘rules’ and limits. Fuck rules. Fuck limits. Embrace passion."

Consumed
by the unrelenting feeling
that you forgot something.
Thinking hard about every detail,
every moment,
every memory you may be hiding.
Let go of the forgotten…
of fear,
dive into the sea of possibility
where the sun may shine
and the rain may fall,
but the gleam of red to purple catches your eye, a rainbow.
Give in
to the voice telling you to cross the line
and fall blissfully into the arms of happiness.
